Wyatt Cottage

Suzanne White and Chris Pamplin have lived at Wyatt Cottage with their dog and three cats for the past six years. Chris has family connections with this area as his paternal grandparents, Molly and Stan Pamplin, ran the Gt. Thurlow village shop in the 1960s and 70s, whilst his maternal great, great, great grandparents ran Dearsley Farm in Bradley.

Chris has memories of helping his grandfather with house deliveries and listening to special deals with suppliers at times of shortage (for example, the 1968 sugar shortage). Only favoured customers received supplies. The shop appeared to be much bigger in the eyes of a small boy.

Sue and Chris are self-employed publishers and editors in computer publishing. Chris also included computing and mowing the lawn (a duty) as hobbies, whilst Suzanne enjoys horseriding in Withersfield, walking, reading and playing with computers.

Thurlow provides them with a good environment, quiet, good weather, and is near to Chris's family.

Broad Road being used as a "rat run" and the number of lorries going to Grampian Foods are their main negative comments.

Amongst the changes they have seen is the increase in lorry trffiYc, the loss of their doves (a fox destroyed them), the loss of Brian and Barbara as neighbours (they have good new ones), and "the shrinking of the village shop"!
