Elizabeth and Melvyn Harris live at New Cottage, Lt. Thurlow Green (built about 1953) with their two young children, Stephen and Caroline. Elizabeth has lived in the village for 28 years and her parents live in Gt. Thurlow. Stephen is 10 and Caroline is 6.

Melvyn works as a gardener at Gt. Thurlow Hall and Elizabeth is a shop assistant at the Beehive Centre in Cambridge. Elizabeth likes to read and Melvyn plays pool in The Cock in Lt. Thurlow. He also enjoys tapestry work.

They have a large garden and enjoy living in a quiet location and a friendly environment, which is a safe place to bring up children. They like the small village primary school, and Elizabeth has been involved in setting up the toddler group and establishing the pre-school in the grounds of the school.

They run a car, which is a must as there is little public transport.
